This is how we ruin it for everyone
The move into stage 3 in Toronto happened prematurely it seems at MARBL restaurant. Check out this video reported on by the CBC.
Strong public health by law enforcement will curb this activity in a heartbeat. Public Health needs to be able to cite evidence of social distancing violations when conducting inspections. Make it the same as cleanliness and cooking standards in restaurants.
Relying on an honour code won’t suffice. It just means places only need to avoid not getting caught. Or adopting a ‘snitches get stitches’ mentality. That only leads to failure to keep COVID-19 at bay. As I said before we already have the framework and practice of enforcing rules like social distancing. We just need to put it into common practice.
Setting a COVID-19 standard is prudent and the wise thing to do now. Otherwise we’re going to see more violations like we saw above. And if that happens, we’re going to start spelling Ontario, F-L-O-R-I-D-A.
