Hey Rob Burton! Mayor of Oakville! Intervene here and take down this monument immediately

Found out this morning that in St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery in Oakville there was a monument to the Nazi SS. Story is here:

Graffiti on monument commemorating Nazi SS division being investigated as a hate crime by police

Mayor Rob Burton and the rest of the Oakville City Council must intervene now and tear down this statue.

We do not both sides this argument. It’s a statue to Nazis. There is nothing to be proud about here. It’s an insult to every Jewish community member, every veteran of the Second World War in Canada.

Take this down now.

Update: If you’re angry about this and live in Oakville contact your town councillor via the link below. Let them know you’re not going to accept this and demand change.

Update 2: Apparently Mayor Rob Burton isn’t doing a thing to take down the monument to Nazis

  1. This is not a “Nazi memorial” – in 1986, the Commission of Inquiry on War Crimes, headed by Mr. Justice Jules Deschenes, found that the ‘Galicia Division’ should not be indicted as a group; that members of the Division were individually screened for security purposes before admission to Canada; that charges of war crimes against members of the Division had never been substantiated, either in 1950 when they were first preferred, or in 1984 when they were renewed, or before the Commission, and that, in the absence of participation in, or knowledge of specific war crimes, mere membership in the Galicia Division was insufficient to justify prosecution. Finally, the Commission noted, no case could be made against members of the Division for revocation of citizenship or deportation since the Canadian authorities were fully aware of the relevant facts in 1950 and admission to Canada was not granted because of any false representation, or fraud, or concealment of material circumstances.

      1. I agree, but while the members of SS Galizien were vindicated – they were fighting for Ukrainian independence against the tyrant Stalin ( he murdered 10-14 million Ukrainians in the 1930’s) – not one was ever convicted of a single crime, the 150,000 Jews that served in the Whermacht have yet to be prosecuted ( posthumously for most) or have their day in the public eye – the media should be writing about them annually ! here are some links — https://www.haaretz.com/1.4747962 and https://www.amazon.ca/Hitlers-Jewish-Soldiers-Descent-Military/dp/0700613587

many Jews died in ww2 – 6 million, about 12 million Ukrainians, so double, never mind that large parts of the war were fought in Ukraine, so it’s time for justice ! the 150,000 jews that served in the whermacth need to be prosecuted and in the media especially !!!!!!!!
